BOREHOLE RESERVOIR

The BOREHOLE RESERVOIR can be added to any of the various Miethke shunt systems. It allows the measurement of intraventricular pressure, the injection of drugs and the control of the valve. The housing of the BOREHOLE RESERVOIR is made of titanium and is highly puncture-resistant.

BOREHOLE RESERVOIR for pediatric application
Unlike that used in standard applications, the BOREHOLE RESERVOIR for pediatric application has no offset at the bottom of the reservoir. In addition the dimensions of the housing are smaller.

SPRUNG RESERVOIR

.Sprung Reservoir

The SPRUNG RESERVOIR is able to pump the CSF only in the distal direction due to its non-return valve.
As a consequence it prevents, in case the distal catheter is obstructed, the flow of CSF in the direction of the ventricular catheter and allows the flow of CSF to be controlled.

MCLANAHAN RESERVOIR

MCLANAHAN RESERVOIR open...                    ... and distal closed

The MCLANAHAN RESERVOIR functions similar to the SPRUNG RESERVOIR: By pressing down the membrane CSF-flow is produced in distal direction. In addition to the above function, it is possible to inject specific drugs or fluids into either the ventricles or in a distal direction into the shunt system. To inject into the
ventricles: A cannula is used to puncture the reservoir. The cannula is then used to depress the floor of the reservoir. By depressing the floor of the reservoir completely, the distal outlet is closed and the proximal outlet
is opened, thus allowing drainage into the ventricles. When a cannula is used without depressing the reservoir floor, the proximal outlet is blocked and the distal outlet is opened. During the transition between the above mentioned conditions, both outlets are open.

BOREHOLE PORT

Unlike the BOREHOLE RESERVOIR, the BOREHOLE PORT does not possess an outlet to connect to the distal catheter. It is used for example in patients for who require puncture for extraction of CSF or injection of drugs.

ETOU RESERVOIR
The ETOU RESERVOIR is used if the ventricular catheter has to be placed on the BOREHOLE RESERVOIR at an acute angle. The connector on the bottom of the ETOU RESERVOIR can be rotated according to the patient's requirements.
