DSV ® Pressure setting
The DUALSWITCH-VALVE is available in different pressure configurations.
Different pressure settings are available either for the low pressure chamber (horizontal body position of the patient) or the high pressure chamber (vertical body position). The recommended pressure level for the low pressure chamber is dependent on the origin of the hydrocephalus.
The height of the patient, however, is the determining factor when considering the opening pressure required for the high level pressure chamber.
recommended pressure levels
|Hight||Standard opening pressure horizontal / vertical (cmH2O)||NPH valve opening pressure horizontal / vertical (cmH2O)|
|Patients shorter than 1,60 m||10 / 30||5 / 30|
|Patients from 1,60 m to 1,80 m||10 / 40||5 / 40|
|Patients taller than 1,80 m||10 / 50||5 / 50|
Reading the pressure setting from an X-ray image
The picture on the right shows the X-ray image of a DSV (pressure setting 13/30 cmH2O).
In addition to the standard pressure settings the DUALSWITCH-VALVE is also available in the following special configurations:
