Since 1992, we are working every day to develop technologies that improve the lives of hydrocephalus patients.
Hydrocephalus occurs when too much cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) accumulates in the brain. In order to regulate the pressure and relieve symptoms, a so-called shunt system is usually implanted. A valve regulates when cerebrospinal fluid is drained.
Our MIETHKE gravitational technology is integrated into all MIETHKE valves. This technology was developed to reduce complications and make the therapy safer and more effective.

Titanium

Titanium plays a central role in medical technology.

Our hydrocephalus implants are made of titanium, which is well tolerated by the body and highly durable. It does not rust, is light yet stable, and is therefore ideal for small, precise components such as our valves.

Another advantage is that titanium is non-magnetic. This means that MRI scans can generally be performed without any problems, even if the patient has an implant.

We use a special titanium alloy that meets stricter requirements than those used in the aerospace industry. This ensures that our implants function reliably.
