- ONE valve for premature and newborn babies, children and adults
- three product variants: for ventriculo-peritoneal (SHUNTASSISTANT 2.0) and for lumbo-peritoneal section (SHUNTASSISTANT 2.0 LP, straight and SHUNTASSISTANT 2.0 LP, U-shaped)
- more protection against overdrainage complications due to position-dependent function
- uncomplicated pressure stage concept with 6 different fixed pressure stages to choose from
- simple pressure stage coding for clear pressure stage recognition in imaging
- MRT compatible up to 3 Tesla
- compatible for a complementary partnership with other valves
- slim, cylindrical and small design for a better flow
- precise precision engineering
- robust and durable due to the use of titanium
The SHUNTASSISTAN 2.0 is the consistent further development of the proven SHUNTASSISTANT and paediSHUNTASSISTANT. Like its predecessor, it is a separate gravitational valve that automatically adjusts the valve opening pressure to the different body positions of the patient and can thus counteract possible overdrainage while standing.
The SHUNTASSISTANT 2.0 can be integrated into the shunt system at any position. The installation height has no influence on the functionality. However, the correct position parallel to the body axis is important for the proper functioning of this gravitational valve.
The slim, cylindrical design of the SHUNTASSISTANT 2.0 has been further optimized for a better flow and the valve has been reduced in size once again. Combined with the different pressure levels offered, this valve is equally suitable for the treatment of hydrocephalus in adults and children.
The SHUNTASSISTANT 2.0 is open in the lying body position and does not present any resistance. The opening pressure in the horizontal body position is determined exclusively by another differential pressure valve which is used.
When the patient rises, the SHUNTASSISTANT 2.0 is activated: The balls inside the housing close the passage of the valve due to the gravitational force, automatically increasing the opening pressure and thereby protects the patient from overdrainage while standing. Only when the patient's cerebral pressure increases to such an extent that the opening pressure in the valve is reached, the balls are pressed upwards and open the passage until the cerebral pressure has fallen again. In the upright body position, the total opening pressure is the sum of the opening pressure of the gravitational valve and that of the additional differential pressure valve.

MIETHKE APP - UNDERSTANDING VALVES EASILY
The MIETHKE App shows clearly and quickly understandable how our valves work:
+ Influence of the body position on the opening pressure: The motion sensor of the smartphone simulates the body position of the patient: upright - inclined - lying.
+ Pressure stage recognition in the X-ray image: Every set or preset pressure stage is shown here and can be easily recognized by means of templates.
+ Simulation of adjustability: Valves can be easily adjusted with the finger and thus help to understand what is happening inside the valve.
+ View into the inside of MIETHKE valves: All valves allow a view of their construction and thus the influence of the cerebrospinal fluid flow on the functioning can be shown in an easily understandable way.
